Training Your Pet the Pet Stop Way

Good pet training is absolutely critical. That’s why all Pet Stop dealers employ the most advanced, up-to-date behavioral methods and apply them to individual pets with very different personalities. We want every dog and every cat - and their owners - to make the smoothest transition possible.

Our pet-friendly dealers will carry out the initial training phase with you and your pet. The dealer will fit them with a receiver, and will outline with you the principles and methods involved in reinforcing their initial training.

The dealer will then put your pet through various training techniques designed to teach them the new boundaries of their electronic fence. Based on their reaction to this training your dealer will then decide when it is best to initiate their first correction. When handled properly pets take to the training easily, often experiencing the correction only once or twice and quickly learning to respond to the warning tone.

Training Your Pet

After you and your dog receive training from your dealer, you will begin the phase of reinforcement training - a self-initiated program following the instructions your dealer prescribes - some Pet Stop dealers offer additional training for an added fee.

The program is organized into short daily sessions lasting for approximately two weeks. While most pets immediately take to the training and learn to respect the boundary, others may require additional conditioning. Your dealer stands ready to assist you if you’re having difficulty with the training program - it’s what they’re trained to do - and they’re always ready to help or lend advice when necessary.

After the training program is successfully accomplished, your pet will be free to roam and play within the safety of their new Pet Stop electronic fence system, enjoying a new kind of freedom they’ve never had before.

As a founding member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, Mr. Weinssen believes in a humane approach to pet training and saw the opportunity to develop a low stress approach by using a slow and gradual increase in correction, supplemented by frequent training sessions.
